Mentoring Program

For JMC Students:

The mentoring program is designed connect you with JMC alumni who can provide professional advice and guidance to prepare you for your future career in journalism. Through the mentoring program, you can learn first hand what to expect after graduation in the areas of journalism, including: newspapers, magazines, radio/TV, advertising, public relations, and web communications. Mentors will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

If you're a JMC student who would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please read the Mentoring Program Guidelines then register for the Mentoring Program.

For Alumni:

The purpose of the mentoring program is to allow students to take advantage of the valuable, professional advice you have to offer. As part of the mentoring program, you will be useful to students as they connect their academic experience with professional work and a future career in journalism and mass communications. Mentoring can range from a phone conversation or two, to an opportunity for a student to be in somewhat frequent contact for vocational advice, to a more extensive arrangement. This is also a way for you to stay in touch with upcoming generations of JMC students, whose experiences with the Web and the rest of the changing media landscape are so very different than past generations.

If you are interested in helping students studying in the following areas of media and strategic communications, including: newspapers, magazines, radio, television, social media, advertising, public relations, and web communication, please read the Mentoring Program Guidelines and register to become a mentor. I am already a mentor and would like to view the mentor list.
